(Interpretive Map: Mormon Trail route of 1846-1847) |
*Note: Historically called "The Mormon Church," this Christian fellowship was founded in 1830 by Joseph Smith and is formally known as The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It sponsors one of the most popular and expansive genealogical resource sites in the world: FamilySearch.com.
Billions of records are indexed online and available to the general public for family history research. It was through FamilySearch.com that I first discovered the stories of my pioneer cousins who were among the very first Latter Day Saints to travel the Mormon Trail by wagon trains to Utah.
